Selected Work

I develop strategic communications, editorial content, and digital storytelling that help organizations translate complex research into clear, engaging, and accessible narratives. My work spans website content, newsletters, editorial features, stakeholder communications, digital campaigns, and science communication for international research initiatives.

The projects below highlight examples of research storytelling, content development, and communications work across genomics, biodiversity, conservation, and environmental science.

Writing and Editorial Work

Why Sequence All Species

Role: Website content development and science translation

Developed public-facing content for the Earth BioGenome Project explaining why species-level genome sequencing matters for biodiversity research, conservation, and scientific discovery. Translated a complex scientific concept into accessible website content for broad scientific and public audiences.

Earth BioGenome Project: Global Communications Strategy

Role: Communications strategy, digital engagement, editorial leadership, and stakeholder communications

Led communications strategy and digital engagement for the Earth BioGenome Project, coordinating messaging, content development, and outreach across a global network of biodiversity genomics initiatives. Developed website content, newsletters, science communication campaigns, and stakeholder communications while tracking performance metrics to refine strategy and increase audience engagement.

Selected outcomes:

  • 617% increase in LinkedIn engagement

  • Instagram audience growth from 4,533 to 7,932 followers

  • BlueSky audience growth from 4,420 to 6,602 followers

  • Multiple campaigns generating 50,000–96,000 views

Skills demonstrated: Strategic communications, digital engagement, analytics, content strategy, stakeholder engagement, science communication, and campaign development.

Major Event Communications

Role: Communications lead, content development, stakeholder coordination, and event communications

Led communications planning and delivery for the Earth BioGenome Project Phase II: Scaling Up meeting, an international leadership event bringing together senior scientific leaders and major biodiversity genomics initiatives.
Developed meeting communications, website content, agendas, briefing materials, presentation resources, speaker communications, invitations, and post-meeting summaries. Worked with executive leadership, committee chairs, presenters, and international partners to support clear messaging, stakeholder alignment, and effective information flow.
This project required managing competing priorities, translating complex scientific and organizational discussions into accessible communications, and supporting decision-making for the next phase of a global genomics initiative.

Skills demonstrated: Strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, executive communications, event communications, project coordination, content development, editorial planning, and science communication.
